Regional Indicators use the Unicode Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement block — the same characters that combine to form country flag emoji. Each letter becomes a large block symbol. Best used for short words or abbreviations in Discord and Twitter.
Enter short text above (ideally 2-5 characters) to see regional indicator block letters. Copy and paste into Discord, Twitter, or any platform. Important: two adjacent regional indicator letters may combine to form a country flag emoji, so add spaces between characters for best results.
Regional indicator symbols (U+1F1E6 onwards) are supported on all modern platforms. On iOS and macOS, adjacent pairs may render as country flags (e.g., U and S become the US flag). On Android and Windows, individual characters typically show as block letters. Only A-Z is supported.
Unicode regional indicator symbols are designed to combine in pairs to form country flags. If two adjacent letters match a country code (like US, GB, FR), platforms may display them as a flag instead of block letters. Add spaces between characters to prevent this.
No. The Unicode regional indicator range only covers letters A-Z. Numbers and punctuation pass through unchanged.
Apple and Google render regional indicators differently. Apple tends to show them as flag-like blocks; Google shows them as letter squares. Both are valid renderings of the same Unicode characters.
